Planning and approval

Publish directly to Instagram (Beta)

You decide: with Premium, Draftdeck publishes approved posts to Instagram at their scheduled time when you switch it on in the post. For all other channels it reminds you, and you post yourself.

In short

  1. As an owner or admin, open Settings › Channels › Publish directly, choose Connect LinkedIn or Connect Instagram and allow access at the platform: LinkedIn for your profile and the pages you manage, Instagram for a professional account.
  2. Under Which channel publishes as whom, pick the profile, page or account for each channel. Channels left on By hand stay as they are.
  3. In the post's Publish tab choose Yes, publish automatically for each channel. It then goes out at its time once it is approved and scheduled. Without that nothing goes out by itself. Publish now publishes it at once.
  4. If something fails, Draftdeck tries again a few times. After that the channel shows Failed with the reason, and the people on the post and the admins are notified.
  5. Publishing directly is a Beta and part of Premium. On all other channels you post yourself and mark the post as published.

When something goes wrong

  1. After a temporary error Draftdeck tries again after 1, 5, 15 and 60 minutes. An error a new try cannot fix (a picture the platform does not accept, for example) stops at once, with the reason in the Publish tab.
  2. A post that is still not out more than 6 hours after its time is not sent by itself any more, so nobody is surprised by a post hours late. Send it with Publish again, or post it by hand.
  3. If Draftdeck could not confirm that a post arrived, it does not send it again by itself. Check the platform: if it is live, mark it as published; if not, choose Not there – publish again.

Numbers for your posts

  1. For posts published directly, Draftdeck fetches numbers such as impressions, reach, likes, comments, shares and saves. You see them in the Publish tab and under Publish directly.
  2. The numbers are fetched a few times a day and may be up to two days behind. Only your workspace sees them, and they are kept for one year.

Instagram: what works

  1. You need an Instagram professional account (business or creator). Every post needs a picture or a video.
  2. Pictures: JPEG up to 8 MB, aspect ratio from 4:5 to 1.91:1. PNG and WebP are sent as a JPEG copy. Videos: MP4 or MOV, 3 seconds to 15 minutes, up to 300 MB. A single video becomes a Reel, several files a carousel (up to 10). A story is chosen in the Publish tab under Instagram format; it is one picture or one video.
  3. Caption: up to 2,200 characters, at most 30 hashtags and 20 mentions. Instagram allows 50 posts per account in 24 hours.

Reconnect

  1. Access lasts a limited time. Draftdeck renews it by itself as long as the platform allows. When it cannot, owners and admins get a notice 7 to 14 days before, and the connection shows Ends soon.
  2. When it shows Ended, click Reconnect and sign in again. Until then posts of that channel are not sent; you can post them by hand.

Disconnect and delete the data

  1. Under Publish directly, click Disconnect, then Disconnect and delete its data. Draftdeck deletes the access and everything it received from the platform, the numbers included. For LinkedIn the access is ended there as well.
  2. For Instagram, also remove Draftdeck in Instagram's settings under Apps and websites. Instagram tells us, and we delete everything as well. If you ask Meta to delete your data, you get a code and a page that shows it is done.
  3. When the workspace or your account is deleted, the connections go with it. Posts already published stay on the platform; you delete them there.
